Elaeocarpus STD (Elaeocarpus decipiens) is a compact, evergreen tree that is highly valued for its attractive appearance, versatility, and low-maintenance nature. Also known as Blueberry Ash or Japanese Blueberry Tree, this variety is often used in both ornamental and functional landscaping due to its dense, bushy growth habit and ornamental qualities. Typically growing to about 15 to 20 feet tall with a similar width, Elaeocarpus STD forms a rounded, dense canopy of glossy, dark green leaves that provide year-round interest. The leaves are leathery and oval, giving the tree a lush, tropical look. In the spring, Elaeocarpus STD produces small, white or cream-colored flowers that are clustered in panicles. While the flowers themselves are fairly subtle, they are attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies. After flowering, the tree produces small, blueberry-like fruit that starts green and ripens to a deep blue, providing visual interest through the summer and into the fall
